Asquith Boys High School provides opportunities for students to pursue high quality academic, creative arts and music programs, whilst studying curriculum developed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Asquith Boys High School encourages the participation of pupils not only in academic work, but also in cultural, sporting and outdoor activities.
Scholarship opportunities are offered at Asquith Boys High School to encourage and acknowledge students in excellence across academic and creative arts subjects.
The school will be offering the following Scholarships for 2024:
Stage 4, 5 and 6 Instrumental Band Scholarships
One Scholarship per stage will be offered:
- Year 7 – Stage 4
- Year 9 – Stage 5
- Year 11 – Stage 6
The Scholarship will be valid for TWO (2) years subject to an annual review.
Other scholarships available:
RoSA Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship (Visual Arts OR Drama OR Music)
One Scholarship will be offered to an outstanding student in Year 9 in Visual Arts or Drama or Music. The Scholarship will be valid for two (2) years, subject to constant review.
HSC Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship (Visual Arts OR Drama OR Music)
One Scholarship to an outstanding student in Year 11 in Visual Arts or Drama or Music. The Scholarship will be valid for two (2) years, subject to constant review.
Mervyn Brown Senior Academic Scholarship
Mervyn Brown was the first Principal at Asquith Boys High School from 1960 – 1968.
The Scholarship is awarded to ONE Year 11 student for 2 years. The scholarship can be in any subject excluding Drama, Music, Visual Arts and Band.
Year 7 (2024) Instrumental Band Scholarship applications ARE NOW OPEN
One Scholarship is offered, covering the annual Band Tuition Fee of $440, for the weekly rehearsal in the ABHS Stage Band. The Scholarship will be valid for two (2) years and subject to an annual review.
PREREQUISITES
- Grade 3 AMEB or equivalent.
- Proven capacity or promise in Music is required and the ability to cope satisfactorily with academic aspects of all other schoolwork.
- Music Scholarship recipients are expected to play at all performance opportunities and contribute to the musical life of the School.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
All applicants will be required to attend an audition/interview. Applicants will be required to play two short contrasting pieces and scales on their chosen instrument. There will also be some sight-reading, listening and a general discussion.
