Computing Technology at ABHS
Computing Technology is an exciting course for students who are thinking about a career in a range of technological applications in society. Students experience learning about software and hardware along with emerging technologies such as Networking, Game Development, Coding using software such as Python, 3D Modelling, Augmented Reality, Website Development, Simulation, AI, Mechatronics, Analysing Data and Designing Personal Projects.
The CAPA Department (which offers the course) have purchased robust high-spec laptop computers and students have access to advanced desktop computers to supplement the student's BYD computers. The computers are loaded with software such as software such as Adobe Suite and Blender.
Course Activities
Computing Technology engages students through hands-on activities designed to foster interest and enjoyment in computing technologies. The course covers a wide range of topics, including:
Internet and Website Development: Learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create interactive websites.
Programming: Explore basic programming principles using languages such as Python and Java to develop software applications.
Creating games using a range of coding languages.
Develop 3D virtual worlds and develop augmented 3D objects.
Data Management and Analysis: Acquire skills in organising, analysing, and visualising data using spreadsheets and databases.
Cybersecurity: Understand the importance of digital security, learn about common threats, and develop strategies to protect information and systems.
Robotics and Automation: Design, build, and program mechatronic or automated systems using microcontrollers and sensors.
Mobile App Development: Create mobile applications for various platforms using app development frameworks.
