Technology & Applied Studies

OnGuard Safety Tests

Technological and Applied Studies encompasses the subjects of Technology (mandatory), Graphics, Design and Technology, Industrial Technology (Junior and Senior), Engineering Studies, Information and Software Technology and Software Design and Technology.

The diverse nature of subjects offered within the school in the TAS faculty, provide opportunities for students to elect subjects in areas that interest them. All of these subjects are closely tied into possible career paths for students in the future.

Technology (mandatory) is a subject that students study in years 7 & 8. They must accumulate 200 hours over the two years to be eligible for the School Certificate. At ABHS, students design and construct projects in content areas that include graphics, metals, timber, model-making, and as from the start of 2010, food technology.

Industrial Technology (Intech) subjects are similar to what a lot of people will remember as technics. Junior Intech replaced technics a few years ago but many of the material areas have been retained and some new and exciting areas have been added. Currently, we have classes studying automotive, building and construction, electronics, metal and timber.

Senior Industrial Technology currently has classes studying timber products and furniture technologies. We also offer automotive technologies.
